Enterprise Challenge – 2021
Back to Competitions | The University of Greenwich runs the Enterprise Challenge, an annual competition that provides mentoring, training and funding for entrepreneurial students who want to pursue an idea. All students and recent graduates are eligible to apply. There are two streams that you can apply for – a Social Stream, if the business will have a positive environmental or social impact and a Commercial Stream, for any general business idea. |

Connor Lynch, Software Engineering – £3,000 Engineers in Business Prize
Connor was awarded the EIB prize for the creation of CloseBuy, a mobile app for retailers to promote their businesses. CloseBuy helps retailers to attract more footfall by providing discounts, news, and updates about their brand, through push notifications when the users are within proximity of their stores. The app allows local businesses to offer a new level of engagement with consumers.
Positive feedback
The addition of the EIB prize to our Enterprise Challenge has been very valuable as it’s raised the profile of the competition amongst both engineering staff and students. The EIB prize prompted us to hold a special enterprise bootcamp at our Medway campus to attract more engineers to the competition and give them the opportunity to meet students from different subject areas, and we found that these networking opportunities led to exciting innovations.
